THE people of Spain have been doing a lot of voting lately, but Denia residents now have the chance to vote for something that may have a more direct impact on their day to day lives. The proposals for the 2020 participatory budget are now online and the voting process was due to start on 2 December and ends on 16 December.
Commonly referred to as the People’s Budget, it features dozens of ideas from local citizens about things the town hall should be spending taxpayer’s money on. The website is www.participadenia.es and if you go there you will see the site split into thirteen different barrios in the town. So, if, for example, you click on the barrio Roques icon you will see proposals such as cleaning the hillsides, better signage for parking and renovation of the steps on Avenida El Cid. The most popular ideas will be included in the Denia 2020 budget and, hopefully, the work carried out during the same calendar year.
