THE University of Alicante (UA) held the Valencian leg of the “Hack for Good 2017” event earlier this month. The event – known amongst participants as a hackathon – involved more than a hundred people all aiming to develop new applications to help with social problems. The hackathon was held simultaneously in venues throughout Spain and across the world. The programme was supported by talks from various people in the tech industry such as Chema Alonso, head of Data for Telefonica. Data and ideas created from all the venues will be collated and studied and, if suitable, earmarked for further development.
