Strictly Come Dancing may have broken the barrier by having a male couple doing a demonstration dance in the autumn, but Sunday´s return of ITV´s Dancing on Ice saw Ian “H” Watkins and Matt Evers, make history when they became the first same-sex competitive pair on a UK dance show.

Steps singer Watkins danced with professional skater Evers and got the tears ruining new judge John Barrowman´s mascara.

Barrowman(minus black hair restorer) was infinitely preferable to Jason Gardiner who quit last year, and that means an altogether pleasanter feel to the show.

Back to H and Matt though, who smashed down the barriers in a timeslot that ironically decades ago would have featured Stars on Sunday and Songs of Praise.

Thank heavens that society has moved forward in a positive direction, whilst contest-wise,  Diversity´s Perri Kiely and Corrie´s Lisa George stood out for me.

It´s just a shame that lovely Trisha Goddard is a racing cert to be voted out this Sunday unless somebody exhumes Todd Carty from a few years back!
