CRITICISM about the lack of beds in Valencia’s Clinical Hospital seemed to have been borne out this week when a number of patients had to be wheeled out to corridors while a lighting system was updated. Many of the patients were on drips and other medical equipment and the unions have said that this shows that there is a general lack of staff, meaning fewer beds are available. For example for the 33 beds in the digestivo ward there is only one nursing technician.
As we enter the flu season patient admissions can expect to rise. However the regional Health Minister has said that they are in discussions with two other hospitals in Valencia should they become overwhelmed.
