THE Department of Sustainable Economy has granted Callosa d’en Sarria €140,000 to update their public lighting. The new system will be more energy efficient and “smarter”. For example it will adapt at night to the amount of light it needs to emit depending on the time, brightness of the moon, weather etc.

There will also be digital internal clocks that allow the lights to keep track of precise sunrise and sunset times throughout the year to know when to switch on and off. Overall it is hoped the updates will make an energy consumption saving of 70%.
