A fifteen metre sperm whale was found in the Valencian port of Sagunto where it had apparently been dragged in by a boat. The port has certain protocols to cover when marine mammals are washed in which includes contacting Seprona, the animal welfare branch of the Guardia Civil. The University of Valencia have also been contacted to see if they require the remains for research work. It is believed the whale was already dead when it got caught up in the boat and was floating on the seas surface. Specialist equipment will need to be brought in to move the giant corpse which probably weighs in the region of forty tons.
