THERE was a 7.5% increase in workplace accidents across the Valencian Community last year, although the figures for deaths at work dropped from 49 in 2015 to 41 in 2016.  The statistics come from the Valencian Institute of Health and Safety at Work (INVASSAT) and show total reported workplace accidents at 41,796; up from the 39,020 in 2015.On a national basis Valencia has one of the lowest accident rates, behind only Madrid. However for fatalities the Community is the fifth highest across Spain in a table led by Andalucía with 80 work fatalities.
