TORREVIEJA´S mayor, Eduardo Dolon, has said that it is going to cost up to 80 thousand euros to get the city´s Municipal Theatre reopened, almost four years after the previous council closed it for “safety reasons”.
Dolon, of the Partido Popular, said that certain improvements and upgrades are needed since the building has not been used for four years.
The previous left-wing coalition that ran Torrevieja council spent around 40 thousand euros on safety work that they claim was not done when Dolon and the PP were previously in power.
The venue though has remained closed in a long-standing row over the original architect having to “sign off “ on the work, which he has refused to do, despite threats of legal action against him.
Dolon gave absolutely no indication of when any additional work would be done, and how he plans to deal with the obstructive architect who has refused to budge for over two years.
