King Felipe and Queen Letizia are expected to visit the UK on 6 to 8 June in a state visit that was postponed last year due to Spain’s political stalemate. Now that a government is finally in place the visit can go ahead, and early June has been pencilled in though not yet officially confirmed. As well as meeting Queen Elizabeth and London Mayor Sadiq Khan, King Felipe is also expected to address parliament. However, it is thought unlikely that the King will publicly address the two main issues between the countries, Brexit and Gibraltar. There are around 200,000 Spaniards currently living in the UK, many of whom will turn out to see their King – and be interested to know if he has any comments to make on their future once Britain leaves the EU.
