ITV Orihuela Vega Baja saw Cartagena University go above them into second place in the FERRMUR Murcia Federation Top Five competition last weekend, as the students recorded a 34 to 12 home victory, with it standing 17-12 in favour of Cartagena at the interval.

The Mar Menor Squalos used the Nelson Mandela stadium in Torrevieja as their home venue for last Sunday´s match against Murcia University, and got a surprise 33-29 victory.

The Squalos could only field 14 players due to fitness issues and unavailability, and within a few minutes they were down to 13 men, because of an injury.

That setback fired them up and they dominated large parts of the match to record their win.

Leaders Murcia XV did not play in the latest round of games, but return to the field at Orihuela tomorrow afternoon with a 5.30 pm kick-off, whilst second placed Cartagena University entertain bottom side Murcia University.
