A man has been arrested after admitting to the theft of three chainsaws from the company in Elche he worked for. The hapless thief was stopped by National Police precariously balancing a large box on his bicycle. Inquired as to its contents he initially said it contained vegetables, but as he was clearly nervous the police asked to look further. He then confessed that the box contained the saws which he had stolen from his workplace, a garden supply firm. His troubles didn’t end there as he was also asked about the origins of his pushbike – which it turned out had also been stolen. The 52-year-old Spaniard has been charged with four counts of theft.
