ACTOR Antonio Banderas was admitted to a specialist hospital in Switzerland on around the 19th of this month. While there he had three stents fitted, a fairly routine procedure that involves placing a tube in the artery to treat narrow or weak arteries. Banderas was hospitalised in the UK back in January in what at the time he dismissed as a minor scare. However he has now revealed that this event was a small heart attack, necessitating the fitting of the stents in clinic in Geneva. He revealed the details about his health at a press conference in his native Malaga prior to receiving a prestigious award, the Biznaga de Oro, at the cities Spanish Film Festival. He said that the heart attack had caused no damage to his heart and he had been very fortunate in that respect.
