A woman killed in the London terrorist attack on 22 March had a Spanish mother and other family who live in the Galician town of Betanzos. AyshaFrade worked as a teacher in London and was killed when a car driven by KhalidMasood ploughed into her and several other people on London Bridge. Ms Frade was married with two young children and was described by colleagues as “a highly regarded and loved colleague”.  News had leaked out in Spanish media before an official announcement was madeof her death and there was said to be an “atmosphere of great sadness” in Betanzos. Four other people were killed in the attack including a policeman, who was on duty at the Palace of Westminster, and the attacker who was shot by armed police. Messages of support were sent to the United Kingdom by the Spanish government after the attack. Benidorm Town Hall was among many municipalities across the country to hold a minutes silence the day after the attack, led by Mayor Toni Perez who recognised Benidorm’s strong ties with the UK.
