GANDIA’S campus of Valencia University has run a presentation aimed at encouraging more female students to consider taking technology based courses such as science, engineering and maths. These subjects are becoming increasingly more important as Spain increasingly moves towards more white collar type careers, in particular involving computing. However many girls have showed a lack of interest in this type of career and it is hoped that the half day activity went some way towards rectifying this. Speakers on the day included Clara Luzon, who was recently awarded the prize for outstanding college student in technology.
