A Wirral woman was fined £300 after a litter enforcement squad deemed the remnants of her lunch as trade waste.
Cathy Roberts said she was ‘shocked and outraged’ after being handed the fine over a Walnut Whip wrapper, a sandwich packet and a newspaper that she put into a bin outside her bookshop.
Cathy was told that she needed a waste transfer licence by disposal enforcement firm, Kingdom, operating on behalf of Wirral Council.
She was handed the fine and given 14 days to produce a waste agreement plan, although the local council have had the common sense to cancel the fine.
What an utter waste of time, and apparently Cathy´s case is not the only one in the area, with a number of other fines also being scrapped in this total lack of common sense by the disposal firm.
